The Admiral
The Land Rover that started it all
A Series chassis, restored and re-engineered around a single vision: make the experience unforgettable. The build is complete, and the final details are decided with its owner.
We don't build Land Rovers, using artisanal craftsmanship combined with advanced technology we create singular, unique driving experiences. For one customer and one customer only.
Walk up to it and the details come out to meet you. The bespoke interior and puddle lighting fade up as you approach, the hand-stitched leather gives beneath you, then comes the low note of a heritage engine re-built with modern technology for power and reliability. Every car is set up on the road, not on a bench, until it drives like nothing else you own.
We take on only a handful of commissions each year. That leaves time to think, to argue and to get it right.
Every commission begins as a conversation, not a configurator. From the underpinnings to the upholstery, every part is designed and made in-house. Never a limited run. Never repeated.

Built for the estate. Finished for the drive home.
A working Defender with the fit and finish of something far rarer, as at home on a days shooting as on the road back to home.
The Range Rover Classic, rethought.
Rebuilt from the ground up around a modern drivetrain, with an interior designed by Malle London. The details will be specified together with its owner, and the head designer from Malle London.
Every exhaust is made by hand and tuned by ear, not to a spec sheet. No two sound quite the same.
Steering weight, damping and pedal feel are set up on the roads you'll actually drive, not on a rolling road.
Built for the B-road as much as the driveway, and an open invitation to take the long way home.
Designed, engineered and built in our workshop in Royal Tunbridge Wells, by people you'll meet by name.
Traditional, hand crafted engineering, seemlessly combined with modern tecnology.
Every car has its own parts and its own software, made in-house. Once it's built, its specification is never used again.
Every One of One starts with historic bones and ends with modern engineering — a bespoke drivetrain, hand-tuned dynamics, and cutting edge tehcnolgy desgined and coded in-house to suit the car, not the other way round.

"I spent a career in technology and a lifetime in Land Rovers. One of One is where the two finally meet."
After a lifelong love affair with Land Rovers and a career in technology, Cliff Smith founded Kent Heritage Works to bring the two together. He obsesses over the details, the engineering, and how a car feels from the driver's seat.
